I started my martial arts career in
1980 at the age of eleven under the guidance of Hanshi Kumosan
Turner and Hanshi Zato Isaac at the Howard Houses PAL in Brooklyn,
New York at Kwanduks Dojo.
In 1996, Shodan Ajani and I opened
a school in the Bronx called Kawaida Warriors. At the school, I
trained the following 4 individuals to the rank of Black Belt:
Sensei Davon (Mushin) Lawrence
Shodan Kenny (Katai) Modoo
Shodan Michael (Jobu) Stewart
Shodan Jason McCoy
In 2003, I was appointed chief
instructor of the University of Kuroshi Do at the Yonkers PAL by
Soke S. Papasan Canty.
As an instructor in the
TNT combat Jiu Jitsu system I assist Soke Haisan Kaleak in
self-defense seminars in Boston, New Hampshire and the Tri-State
area.
One of my most memorable moments
was during the US Open Martial Arts Tournament in 2005. During this
tournament, Soke Haisan and I competed against one another in
self-defense. I fell short but still remained among the top 3
contenders.
I am a five time champion of the
Twin Towers Classic self-defense division held annually in New York,
NY.
Additional Accomplishments:
At the 2006 Twin Towers Classic,
with guest judge Don Rodriguez as the center, I was victorious in
the self-defense division with my arsenal display of Kuroshi Do
creative takedowns and reversals.
