Shante 'Jette' Sims known for her fast hands and fast moves was
born and raised in Brooklyn, New York in 1979. Under the tutelage
of Shihan Sparkle at the school of Nguzo Saba Dojo, Sensei Jette began
studying Martial arts. She continued her training at Shiryodo Warriors
Domain under Soke Haisan Kaleak, Shihan Katanna and Kyoshi Nekosan.
Sensei Jette entered many tournaments where she dominated her
opponents on the mat. In 1999 she received the Promoters Plus East
Coast Champion award for the woman's division in Kumite, self
defense, kata, and weapons. In 2002 Jette was promoted to Shodan,
first degree black belt while teaching at the Jackie Robinson Center
for Physical Culture. On the thirtieth anniversary of Kuroshi-do
system, Shante Sims was acknowledged and promoted to Ni-Dan second
degree black belt which also earned her the title of sensei. Then
most recently in 2007 she was promoted to the rank of san-dan, third
degree black belt.
Sensei Jette currently works a Paraprofessional for the Board of
Education. She has made an impact in the educating system working
with Autistic children for over 7 years. Jette is well know in the
five boroughs for her demonstrations and competitions. she has
competed in tournaments in many states such as Washington D.C.,and
New Jersey to name a few. Sensei Jette has been given back to
Kuroshi-Do, through her community involvement. She teaches and acts
as a role model to aspiring female martial artists all over
Brooklyn. In 2007 sensei Jette promoted Samanta 'Mohayasa'
Namsaran to Shodan making history for being the youngest female to
make black belt in the system at the age of 14.
